Reflectancenoun

(physics) The ratio of the flux reflected to that incident on a surface.

Reflectancenoun

the fraction of radiant energy that is reflected from a surface

Reflectance

The reflectance of the surface of a material is its effectiveness in reflecting radiant energy. It is the fraction of incident electromagnetic power that is reflected at the boundary.

Albedonoun

The fraction of incident light or radiation reflected by a surface or body, commonly expressed as a percentage.

Albedonoun

(botany) The whitish inner portion of the rind of citrus fruits that is a source of pectin, commonly referred to as the pith.

Albedonoun

(alchemy) One of the four major stages of the magnum opus, involving purification of the prima materia.

Albedonoun

Whiteness.

Albedonoun

the ratio of reflected to incident light

Albedo

Albedo (; from Latin albedo 'whiteness') is the measure of the diffuse reflection of solar radiation out of the total solar radiation and measured on a scale from 0, corresponding to a black body that absorbs all incident radiation, to 1, corresponding to a body that reflects all incident radiation. Surface albedo is defined as the ratio of radiosity Je to the irradiance Ee (flux per unit area) received by a surface.
